On 27 July, the Pavocat-Stellenbosch Academy (PSA) hosted the 2022 Counter Corruption Summit at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Studies.  The full-day Summit brought together all branches of the South African state (executive, legislative and judicial), various law-enforcement and oversight agencies, business leaders, NGOs and civil society representatives, academia, and international organisations including the World Bank’s Integrity Vice-Presidency, the African Development Bank, the UN ODC, and the Commonwealth Secretariat.

The aim of the Summit was to help galvanise broad support for the continued efforts to counter corruption and to establish a forum or platform for collaboration across all sectors of society in coordinating counter-corruption initiatives. At the conclusion of the Summit, delegates unanimously adopted the  SUMMIT DECLARATION (click to view), establishing the South Africa Regional Centre of Excellence as the way forward to bring collaboration to countering corruption on the African continent.
