James Stuart is a former British Army officer and a leading expert in Counter-terrorism, with extensive international experience in political and security issues.

Whilst in the UK Government he led the UK’s cross-Government ‘Attack the Network’ Team and designed and established the new Strategic Effects Cell (SEC), providing complex synchronized effects against threats to the UK that could not be mitigated by single government departments or by the state/private sector alone. The SEC was one of the first of its kind anywhere in the world and was targeted at the most complex risks facing the UK.

James’s particular areas of interest include operational and organizational development in order to establish synchronized plans to tackle sophisticated problem sets. He has extensively used threat finance, including targeted investigations and recovery, all manner of cyber effects and influence operations and has worked very closely with the law enforcement and intelligence communities around the world.

During his time in the Army, James worked across the world, particularly in Africa, the Balkans, the Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan. As a Senior Officer he is a graduate from the NATO Senior Officer Course and has extensive operational experience starting with the Falklands War in 1982, many tours in Northern Ireland and the Balkans and then the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns.

He has worked for many years training and working with the security forces of many countries, especially the United States. He is the Chairman of a cyber company that specializes in helping complex supply chains to comply with international legislation and to be protected from threats.

He holds a Bachelors Degree in Politics from Exeter University and has a Masters Degree in Military Technology from Cranfield University.
